Coalescing in East London’s newest establishment, The Glove That Fits, As If. No Way! present an evening of deep, experimental soundscapes thanks to two London debut live sets from Melbourne’s own Alex Albrecht pres. Melquíade of Albrecht La’Brooy / Analog Attic Recordings & support from London based Aengus.
Alex Albrecht Presents: Melquíades [live]
The past few years have seen Albrecht La’Brooy steadily hone in their unique spin on house and techno via releases on Night Tide, Voyage and Butter Sessions. In 2018, the duo kicked off the year with their debut album on Apollo/R&S ‘Tidal River’, perfectly setting the tone for the year to come.
Here we see Alex Albrecht deliver solo material under his newly formed Melquíades guise, first inaugurated on Francis Harris’ Scissor & Thread imprint.
All material is recorded in a live, improvised manner and looks towards more dancefloor-oriented sounds. “The Bluff” also aims to capture the often surreal and mysterious feeling of the Australian bush.
Working with a range of analogue gear, Aengus experiments with hypnotic drum patterns, up-lifting melodies and ambient breaks that calmly pace each arrangement.
As he has built his home studio over the past 4 years, Aengus’s technical approach and use of his equipment bleeds through each layer and movement, giving his creations a sophisticated and intricate feeling.
As If. No Way! Dj’s warming up basement ahead of the evenings gathering.
