Premiere: Gruth – Somnum Exterreri II (Urubu Tapes)

Short Story

Leaving the Church of Lament along with all your sorrows and grievances, dark clouds grow above the treetops. The sound of water running through rocks and off of a cliff-face holds the air tight, before heavy rain begins to settle in for the night.

Tracing your steps back through the dense forest, the moon flickering through storm clouds. A screeching sound screams from cathedral towers.

The Church of Lament, after swallowing the turmoils of human lives, must process the feelings expressed and expel them.

The cathartic rumble and wailing voices sing through the night, as the sacred procession known as Somnum Exterreri takes places once the moon glows in the night sky.

Eddying your way through the mud and dying leaves of the forest floor, the throb of the church yearning remains audible through the think foliage. Taking a deep breath in as you make it to your cabin door, conscious clear, you lay down to rest as the sounds of the church bellow through the night.

Words

‘Somnum Exterreri II’ picks off from the deep droning atmospheres left behind in Laments, Gruth‘s 2018 release on Tormenta Electronica. The intended follow up evolves into darker soundscapes that swallow you up.

Somnum Exterreri is out as a limited edition cassette via Lisbon based Urubu Tapes
