Short Story

The slight patter of rain, the distant sound of a waterfall, and the chirping of birds rustling above in the forest canopy awaken you. After a long night’s sleep following your experience in the Church of Lament, you stand up in the dimly lit cabin, brush off the forest debris that somehow made it inside, and open the door to the calm, fresh forest air.

The way back is muddled in your mind. After expelling your sorrows and grievances in the Church of Lament, an afterglow flows through your body and mind as the sun’s beams penetrate parts of the forest floor. With a sense of euphoria and disorientation from the glowing light, you momentarily forget how and why you are in the serene forest alone. The journey back to civilization could become more frightening than the one you have already experienced.

Release

Gruth is set to release his 3rd solo album, this time via Temporize. Scenes From was written between 2018 and 2021 in Brazil and follows Gruth’s debut album Laments released in 2018, and his second album Somnum Exterreri.. Written as a two-act play, ‘Act I, Scene I – Wake In Fright’ is the opening track and captures Gruth’s light, euphoric sound that perfectly transitions from the final moments of Somnum Exterreri.
